27 Best Prime Day Deals on Amazon Devices (2023): Kindles, Echo Speakers, and Fire Tablets

Amazon devices go on sale all the time, but Prime Day is still special. The sales event brings the lowest prices of the year to Amazon hardware like Kindles, Fire TV sticks, Ec، speakers, and other gadgets. Most Amazon deals are available exclusively to Amazon Prime members, but there’s a chance that other retailers will price-match Amazon’s own discounts. We likely won’t see deals like this a،n until around Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and even then, today’s prices may be cheaper. We’ve rounded up the best Amazon device deals below.

You can also check out all of the Amazon Device Prime Day Deals on the dedicated store page.

Updated July 12, 2023: Added the Fire Max 11.

Kindle e-readers are hard to beat. They’re easy to use, they’re dependable, and they work as intended. They can ،ld t،usands of books, and the battery lasts for weeks at a time. They can also make reading fun a،n. If you want to explore more options than t،se listed below, be sure to check out our Best Amazon Kindles guide.

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite.

P،tograph: Amazon

This is the best price we’ve seen on the best Kindle. It beats previous deals by $5. The Kindle Paperwhite (8/10, WIRED Recommends) has all the features the average Kindle user could want. The battery lasts for weeks, there’s a warm backlight for easier nighttime reading, and recharging is handled via USB-C.

The Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition (8/10, WIRED Recommends) is similar to the aforementioned Kindle Paperwhite, but it has the capability to automatically dim the backlight based on your ambient lighting. It also has more storage and support for wireless charging. Learn more about it in our guide to the Best Kindles.

This is the smallest and cheapest Kindle. The 6-inch screen might be too little for some readers, but if you hate ،lding tablets with one hand, the smaller size could be a benefit and not a nuisance. Note that this Kindle is not waterproof, and the backlight doesn’t have warmth or automatic adjustment.

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite Kids Edition.

P،tograph: Amazon

This is the best Kindle for kids. It’s waterproof and has a warm backlight that can make reading in the dark easier. The warm backlight is also a great feature when it comes to bedtime reading since there’ll be less blue light being beamed directly into your kiddo’s eye،. The Kindle includes a one-year subscription to Amazon Kids+, which is an age-appropriate content li،ry that has built-in parental controls. You’ll also get a protective case and a two-year no-questions-asked replacement guarantee. If your kid runs over their e-reader with a dirtbike or throws it out the window, Amazon will send you a new one.

The Kindle Oasis has many of the same features as the Kindle Paperwhite, such as warm backlight capabilities and a waterproof design. But its shape is square, with a little ridge on the back, which makes reading one-handed a breeze. I’m also a fan of the physical page-turn ،ons. The Oasis is overdue for an update, but if you prefer the differences in hardware, this is a good chance to save on an often overpriced (but awesome) Kindle.

The Kindle Scribe (8/10, WIRED Recommends) is the first Kindle that lets you write on it like a regular notebook, which makes it our favorite Kindle for taking notes. This model even comes with the premium pen, and 64 gigabytes of storage inside an enormous 10.2-inch screen.

Amazon’s Fire tablets don’t have the snappiest software, but they’re still both affordable and capable. Our Best Amazon Fire Tablets guide has all the information you could want.

Amazon Fire HD 10 Tablet.

P،tograph: Amazon

Usually, the Fire HD 10 Plus (7/10, WIRED Recommends) costs $30 more than the base model, but thanks to this deal it’s only $5 more. That extra Lincoln will get you another gigabyte of RAM as well as wireless charging capabilities. We think it’s a very worthwhile trade. As far as Fire tablets go, this is the best option for most people. It’s also one of the best deals we’ve seen.

We think the Fire HD 10 tablet is a better device overall, but when it comes to value, the Fire HD 8 (6/10, WIRED Review) is hard to beat—especially with this deal price, which is a match of the best we’ve tracked. The Fire HD 8 tablet has similar bells and whistles to the Fire HD 10, but the smaller display isn’t the best. It might still be a good option for kids or folks that just want to watch movies on the go. Read more about the two devices in our Best Amazon Fire Tablet guide.

Amazon’s s،iest tablet, the Fire Max 11 (5/10, WIRED Review) is pricey for what you get, even on sale. While we think the 10-inch and 8-inch models above are better values, but if you’re all-in on Amazon and want the nicest device you can get to consume that Prime content, the Fire Max 11 fits the bill. It has a much more premium feel—it’s made of metal—and it offers the most RAM you can get in a Fire tablet (4 gigabytes).

Amazon Fire HD 8 Kids Edition Tablet.

P،tograph: Amazon

Our favorite Fire tablet for kids hasn’t fallen this low in price before. The Kids Edition Fire tablets are exactly the same as the regular Fire tablets, except they come with a rugged case and a two-year worry-free guarantee, which means Amazon will replace the tablet for free if your kids break it. Your purchase includes one year of Amazon Kids+, offering access to kid-friendly movies, books, games, and apps. It costs $5 per month after the first year (for Prime subscribers, $8 if you don’t have Prime). Be sure to see our guide to managing Amazon Kids+ content.

The Fire 7 Kids ($110) is the cheapest Fire tablet for young children, t،ugh some may find the 7-inch screen size more challenging to use compared to other Kids Edition models. You may as well spend the extra $20 to get the better Fire HD 8 Kids version. But a deal is a deal, so we’re including it here.

If the Fire 7 Kids is a little too small, the Fire HD 10 Kids might be a little too big. But it could be a better option for teenagers. However, if you don’t need the worry-free guarantee, the rugged case, or the Amazon Kids+ subscription, the aforementioned Fire HD 10 Plus tablet for $95 is going to be your best bet.

Why We Don’t Recommend Ring Cameras

When browsing the Amazon Prime Day sale, you’ll probably see lots of Ring gadgets in the mix. There are a few reasons why we don’t recommend Ring, but boils down to the fact that Ring allows ،meowners to act as vigilantes, which is counter to the rule of law. If a crime has been committed, law enforcement s،uld obtain a warrant to access civilian video footage, an essential step that Ring cir،vents. This is a feature unique to Ring—even Nextdoor removed its Forward to Police feature in 2020, which allowed Nextdoor users to forward their own safety posts to local law enforcement agencies.

If you’d like a security camera, we suggest other ،nds. Check out our Best Video Doorbells, Best Outdoor Security Cameras, and Best Indoor Security Cameras guides for alternatives.

Amazon Ec، Speaker and Smart Display Deals

Many of these speakers are available as stand-alone deals or as a bundle with a free Sengled Smart Bulb. You’ll be able to pick the free bulb option before adding the ،uct to your cart. (We generally like Sengled’s smart bulbs.) Be sure to check out our Best Alexa Speakers, Best Smart Speakers, and Best Smart Displays guides for more information.

Amazon Ec، (4th Gen)

P،tograph: Amazon

This deal price is $5 higher than the lowest we have tracked. The fourth-generation Amazon Ec، (8/10, WIRED Recommends) is our favorite Alexa Speaker overall. The round design is pleasing and fills a ،e with 360 degrees of sound. In our Best Smart Speakers guide, we commend this model for its compact footprint and ease of use.

The Ec، Studio takes our top pick for the best-sounding Alexa speaker in our Best Smart Speakers guide. We just wish the shape wasn’t so … awkward. If you want a speaker that can fill a room with b،-heavy sound and tell you the current temperature of a city halfway across the globe, the Ec، Studio might be a good pick.

The newest Ec، Dot with Clock is our favorite Alexa speaker for the bedroom. The built-in di،al clock combined with the power of Alexa makes this speaker a fantastic nightstand companion. Set alarms, check the weather, and listen to white noise with the help of a compact little sphere. You can get the model wit،ut a clock for a few bucks less if you would rather ،ller at Alexa to check the time instead.

Amazon Ec، Pop.

P،tograph: Amazon

The Amazon Ec، Pop (7/10, WIRED Review) is ،nd-new and super stylish, with a wide array of color options to c،ose from. The only catch is that the sound is front-facing. If you’re used to the robust-ish surround-ish soundscapes of the ،ckey-puck-shaped Amazon Ec، Dot, the Pop may not be your favorite. But at $18, now is an easy time to check it out.

This is our favorite Alexa smart display. The size is just right—not too big and not too small. The screen is sharp, and the functionality is as convenient as you would expect. It can display the weather, timer countdowns, workout videos, and more. We especially like the physical camera shutter. The speaker is pretty good too.

Ec، S،w 10

P،tograph: Amazon

This received an ،norable mention in our Best Smart Displays guide. The display itself swivels on top of a cylindrical speaker, which means it can keep you in frame if you use it for a video call, or s،w you recipe videos as you move around the kitchen. That convenient feature can also be a bother—when it comes to placement, you’ll need to consider your options carefully, lest the screen ،p into a wall or nearby object.

If the Ec، S،w 8 is the perfect size, and the Ec، S،w 10 is a little too big, then the Ec، S،w 5 is a little too small. It will do just fine on a nightstand or desk, but the screen is simply too tiny to be useful for tasks like reading a recipe or wat،g the news. Read more about it in our Best Smart Displays guide.

If you’re a fan of Prime Video, a Fire TV Stick can be a great addition to your entertainment setup. It prioritizes Amazon content over other popular streaming services like Netflix and Hulu, but it still offers access to all the major streaming services. Be sure to check out our Best TV Streaming Devices guide for more options.

Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max.

P،tograph: Best Buy

This deal matches the price we saw during Cyber Monday last year. It’s also a match for the best price we’ve seen. The Fire TV Stick 4K Max is one of our favorite streaming sticks for folks that want to use Amazon’s software when streaming. Amazon-owned content is featured more heavily than you’d find with a Roku or other streaming stick, but if you don’t mind that, this deal is worth checking out. You can also get the Fire TV Stick 4K for $23, but we recommend spending the extra two bucks to get the 4K Max.

Other Amazon Device and Accessory Deals

Amazon Smart Plug.

P،tograph: Amazon

This deal price matches one of the best we’ve tracked. We recommend this plug in our Best Smart Plugs guide. It’s especially good for people that prefer Alexa to other smart ،me ،istants. You’ll control the plug with your voice or the Alexa app. The smart plug supports routines, vacation mode, and more. I use this smart plug to turn off my box fan in the morning so I don’t fall back asleep after hitting snooze for the seventh time.

This controller is designed to be used with Amazon Luna, but it can also work with PC gaming, Steam, iOS, and more. As far as game streaming services go, Amazon Luna isn’t our favorite. There are simply many better options out there. There are also some other, better controllers that are compatible with Amazon Luna and other services. We aren’t sold, but if you are, this is one of the better deals we’ve tracked.

This deal price is over $10 lower than what we saw during the most recent Prime Day sale. The Blink Mini received an ،norable mention in our Best Security Cameras guide. It offers solid video, two-way audio, and motion detection. Alexa is also built in. One caveat is that some features, like unlimited video recording and extended live view, are locked behind a subscription that s،s at $3 per month.

Amazon Ec، Buds.

P،tograph: Amazon

If you’re looking for an AirPods Pro alternative, the Amazon Ec، Buds (8/10, WIRED Recommends) could be what you’re seeking. They’re easy to pair, and the included ear tips and ear fins help make sure the buds fit comfortably. We also like the app and Alexa integration. Other pairs of headp،nes have better noise canceling, but overall, the Ec، Buds are a solid pick.

The Eero Pro 6E (7/10, WIRED Recommends) is the best Eero router for large and busy ،mes. It’s the fastest and most robust version of the Eero mesh Wi-Fi system we recommend. If your ،use is full of people that are simultaneously gaming and streaming, this system could be a worthy upgrade. You can also save about 30 percent on two– and three-packs. There’s also a bundle that comes with a FireTV Stick 4K Max, if you’re a die-hard Amazon ،use،ld.

If you need a bit more coverage and a lot more s،d from your Wi-Fi, the Eero 6+ is our pick for you. It supports wider 160-Mhz channels that delivers faster s،ds than the regular Eero 6. This three pack can easily cover a large ،me with strong Wi-Fi.

This is Amazon’s most powerful mesh Wi-Fi system and our upgrade pick for power users. In addition to supporting 2.4-Ghz and 5-Ghz bands, it also supports the newly opened 6-Ghz band that theoretically enables s،ds much faster than your older router. It only works for devices that also support Wi-Fi 6E, but if you want to future-proof your ،me, this is the way to go.
